Lavender, vanilla and honey facial exfoliator

For this natural face scrub I used 2 teaspoons of dried lavender flowers mixed with 1/4 brown sugar ( I don’t usually have white sugar in the house but you can use it instead of brown sugar, your choice). I also remembered I had some natural vanilla extract, so I added 1 teaspoon of that, 1 teaspoon of jojoba oil ( you can also use alomond or grapeseed oil as well) and 1 tablespoon of raw honey.

Stir, crush and press everything together until you have a nice mixture. Gently massage your face with it in circular motions, on clean face. Avoid your eye and lips area. After a couple a minutes, wash your face with warm to cold water, par your face dry. Use a light moisturizer after this scrub because the oils in the mixture hydrate and illuminate the skin naturally.

I read this recipe a while ago and remembered to buy the ingredients and try it out. You can easily find the ingredients at a local natural/organic farmaceutical store.

This would actually make a nice gift for a friend in case of a last minute thing. 🙂

Fruits that make your skin glow

I know for a fact that fruit are the best resource for hydrating and rejuvenating your skin. Smelling fruit alone, can make you feel better, distressed actually. Unlike the chemical beauty treatments, fruits are cost-effective, natural and also bring a visible difference to your health.

Here are some of the most common fruit you can easily buy at every store, along with their remarkable properties thus making it easier for you to choose what best suits you! I would recommend you by locally cultivated fruit as often as you can instead of shiny genetically modified fruit that are hollow in nutritious properties, so beware of that when you read the labels.

BananeBanana: This is one fruit that’s abundantly available all through the year. We know it’s a good source of iron, magnesium and potassium and helps reduce menstrual cramps. The effect of banana on skin too is not something that can be ignored. Bananas are rich in vitamin A, B and E and hence works as an anti-aging agent. A fresh mashed banana facial can do wonders for your skin. For more empowering properties:

Mask ingredients:
1 ripe banana
1 tablespoon honey
10 drops lemon juice

Mix all ingredients, apply on clean face, wait 15 min, wash, moisturize. Enjoy the glow!

ZitroneLemon: Lemon juice is an important ingredient in most comestible, cosmetic, household recipes. You can buy lemons on every corner for all year long. With its vitamin C content, its juice will keep your skin healthy and beautiful. A glass of warm water with a tsp of honey and a dash of lemon juice on an empty stomach every morning is a great skin cleanser. It is rich in astringent properties, thus it is a great skin brightener and a power active acne scar remover. Rub the inside of a lemon peel on your elbow to remove any dark spots.

Mask ingredients:
Squeeze 1/2 a lemon (organic is always better) into a bowl, add 2 tbsp of honey (0rganic, raw, natural ). Mix it with a spoon until it gets a liquid consistency. Apply it all over a clean face avoiding eye area. Use it once a week for a natural skin brightener.

ApfelApple: An apple a day keeps the doctor away is cliched I know, but its health benefits are indisputable. Apple’s antioxidant property prevents cell and tissue damage. Apples are known to contain abundant amounts of elastin and collagen that help keep the skin young also fights free radicals away.

Exfoliating mask ingredients:
Applying a mixture of mashed apple, honey, rose water and oatmeal can act as a great exfoliating mask on your skin.

OrangeOrange: Rich in vitamin C that improves skin texture. Like apples, orange too contains collagen that slows skin aging process. Rub the insides of orange on your skin to tighten the skin. Did you know that oranges can be dried and powdered and used as a natural scrub? Like lemons, oranges too help clear skin blemishes.

Mask ingredients:

3-4 TBSP juice from an orange
2 TBSP honey (which need to be heated a bit before use)

Apply on clean face, wait 30 min, wash off, moisturize.

MangoMango: Rightly called the king of fruits for not just it it tastes but also for health benefits. The soft pulpy fruit has an amazing effect on skin too. Rich in vitamin-A and rich antioxidants, it fights against skin aging, regenerates skin cells and restores the elasticity of skin. Herbal Detox Tea/Green Tea and Milk Bath

I recently read this recipe on a blog on how to make your bath time more pleasant without using foam, which can irritate or dry out your skin. It involves green tea and/or detox tea which you can buy at a local store with natural and organic products. It’s really easy to prepare for this relaxing bath. While you’re there, why not make a cinnamon and nutmeg face mask and just wait 20 min and then you can cleanse out.

Just infuse 4-7 bags of green/detox tea the next time you take a hot bath. The herbs will soothe your skin and you can still get many of the benefits even if you’re not a big tea drinking fan. 🙂

You can upgrade that with some rose petals of different colors in the water for more skin moisturizing benefits. I would also add 2-3 glasses of milk as well, until you get a whitish color of the tea water you just made. It’s just optional. Read more about milk baths benefits here

Voila!
